Libyan court convicts Russian sailors



A court in the Libyan capital city, Tripoli, had sentenced two Russian sailors from “Temeteron” oil tanker crew to three months imprisonment.

The Russian ambassador to Libya, Ivan Molotkov, said, on Tuesday, that two sentenced sailors are the captain and his first assistant. He added that the sailors were convicted even of paying a cash fine.

Molotkov stated that the Russian authorities would take the necessary steps to let the court revise the sentences and release the sailors.

In the same context, the head of the Russian communication team said that the court had convicted the sailors of smuggling oil products and crossing the Libyan borders illegally.
