LIBYAPROSPECT – Tripoli
The United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, expressed in a TV interview on Saturday, that he was surprised by the remarks of the Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala, who said that “the propriety for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) must be given to security and stability in Libya.”
Salame told Aljazeera TV that the UNSMIL had played a central role in the ceasefire and to helped in stopping the clashes in Tripoli.
Salame pointed that after the efforts that were succeeded to stop the clashes, there are some issues needed to be considered and worked on, mainly the constitution issue and the talks about forming an executive authority.
Salame added that it is possible to change the current executive authority but either through talks and understanding between the House of Representatives (HoR) and the State Council or according to a change in the current government by the Presidential Council (PC).
