20 killed and tens wounded in clashes in Tripoli



The Health Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) announced, on Monday, that the victims of the clashes around Mitiga Airport in Tripoli are 20 killed and 63 wounded.

The area witnessed clashes, Monday morning, between the Deterrence forces and another battalion attacked the area to release detainees by force.

The Deterrence forces said that there were criminals among the attackers, adding that the attack damaged aeroplanes affiliated with Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways. The two companies had transferred their planes to other places away from the clashes area.

The Defence Ministry of the GNA considered the armed attack as a criminal action aims to affect the security and stability.

The GNA called, in a statement, the Libyan Army and the Interior Ministry to defeat the armed groups that attacked the airport, stressing that it would go for reliable procedure against the attackers.

From its side, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) called the factions in great Tripoli to adhere the laws and the ethics of protecting the civilians and the civil institutions.
