Salame: International and Arab disputes affect Libya

The United Nations Envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, said in a press release, o Saturday, that Libya is an attractive country because of its natural wealth, geographical location, and it African depth, which makes the European competition on and continues.

Salame stated that the disputes between the Arab countries on Libya affect the possibility to come to the political solution in the country. On the other hand, he stressed that the bad relationship between Russia and the United States affects the Libyan situation.

Salame said that Russia had recognised that it shouldn’t keep away in case of lifting the ban on selling the weapons to Libya or in case of cancelling the freezing of the Libyan assets. He added that Russia aims to return to the Libyan market because it was a primary source of selling weapons to Libya and it had contracts of billions of Dollars but suspended in the time of Gaddafi’s regime before 2011.
