Faraj: We refuse to freeze the term “8”



The head of the Committee of amending the Political Agreement in the State Council, Moussa Faraj, that the action plan of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) was not surprising.

Faraj told the Italian News Agent (AKI), on Thursday, that the State Council and the House of Representatives (HoR) agreed to separate the government from the Presidential Council (PC). He stressed that it is necessary to identify the authorities of the government and its size as well as the ways of selecting its members.

Faraj expected disputes on freezing the controversial term “8”, which gives the supreme commander of the army the authority to lead the executive device. He added that his committee refuse to freeze the term, but it would be discussed in other ways in the meetings in Tunisia.

Faraj pointed that “we are not against anyone, but we have our standards,” adding that “we refuse anything the Libyans don’t agree on.”

About the military institution, Faraj said that all facts must participate to talk about it. He added that “the military institution should be unified, stressing that “it is necessary to maintain the civil state.

It is worth mentioning that the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, had proposed his action plan to solve the problem in Libya. The action plan included the following stages: First: Amending and implementing the Political Agreement. Second: Opening the doors for other factions who didn’t participate in the Political Agreement under the international supervision, and going for the referendum on the constitution draft. Third: Preparing for the elections.
