LIBYAPROSPECT – Tripoli

The head of the committee of amending the Political Agreement in the State Council, Moussa Faraj, talked about the appointment of the convention of the committees of the members of the State Council and the House of Representatives (HoR).

Faraj said, in a press release, that the two committees met under the supervision of the President of Congo in Brazzaville.

Faraj added that it is expected to hold a meeting between him and the head of the HoR committee in Tunisia, on 26 of this month under the supervision of the United Nations Envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame.

Faraj pointed that the prominent item of the Political Agreement to be talked about is reducing the number of the members of the Presidential Council (PC) to become only three instead of nine.

He also said that they would discuss the necessity of separating the PC and the Government of National Accord (GNA), adding that the Prime Minister should become one of the members of the PC

In the same context, Faraj revealed that there was a meeting gathered the head of the State Council, Abdul-Rahman Al-Swehli, and the head of the HoR, Ageela Saleh, in Brazzaville.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Swehli issued, last May, a decision of endorsing a committee of 13 members to amend the Political Agreement.

According to the decision, the committee would work on amending the Political Agreement and on the compatibility with the HoR.
