Is Daesh increasing its existence in Libya?

After around one year of defeating Daesh in the city of Sirte, the terrorist group is still announcing its existence through carrying out terrorist operations in different areas in Libya.

Media reports circulated news about the appearance of Daesh in the area between Sirte and the oil crescent region, which is located between the forces of the Dignity Operation that led by General Khalifa Haftar and the forces of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous that defeated Daesh in Sirte.

Sources reported that Daesh exists in the area between Sirte and east of Bani-Waleed city, particularly in the mountain chains to the south east of Bani-Waleed and at the broad areas of the desert.

A security source in the city of Sabha, southern Libya, confirmed that they had monitored unknown airstrikes carried out air raids, on Sunday, on sites that expected to be for Daesh. The source said the airstrikes thought to be carried out by French forces.

The sources think that those Daesh movements seem to reflect Daesh’s ambitions to reorder its rows, exploiting the situation of political and security division in Libya.

The spokesperson of the Defense Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Al-Ghosry, said that Daesh is not able to strengthen and to reunite its rows again. He added that the forces of the GNA know about the movements of Daesh who can not fight as it appears and then disappears quickly.

Al-Ghosry said that it is likely to go for fighting operations against Daesh by the cooperation between the GNA and the International Community support.

A source close to Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous said that there are increasing movements of Daesh lately and there is no any cooperation with the forces of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous who works without any help to fight Daesh.
