LIBYAPROSPECT – Rome
The head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, met the Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, in his office, on Wednesday.
Al-Sarraj and Gentiloni talked about the results of Paris meeting; Gentiloni renewed his country’s support to the GNA welcoming the statement of Al-Sarraj and the commander of the army of the House of Representatives (HoR), General Khalifa Haftar, under the supervision of the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
Gentlioni stressed that he supports the statement to reactivate the Political Agreement and the national reconciliation. He also praised the agreement of cease-fire only in fighting terrorism and preparing for the soon presidential and parliamentary elections. He added it significant to reunify the state institutions to build up a civil and democratic country in Libya.
Al-Sarraj and Gentiloni talked about returning the Italian companies to invest in Libya and to fight terrorism and smuggling the illegal migrants.
Al-Sarraj thanked the Italian Government who supports the Libyan coast guards and providing them with equipment to fight the criminal organisations that plan for smuggling the migrants. He also expressed his happiness that Italy is supporting the defenders of the crossing borders and securing the southern borders of Libya.
The Italian side announced the resuming the aviation between Libya and Italy very soon.
