Haftar’s media denies news about Waldhauser and Bodde visit

The media office of the headquarter of the army of the House of Representatives (HoR) that led by General Khalifa Haftar denied the circulated news about the alleged visit of the commander of the US AFRICOM, Thomas Waldhauser, to Haftar in his office.

Haftar’s media office stressed that it didn’t publish any news about any visit, warning that there are fake social media news had circulated the story.

The media office stated that it would pursue the false news promoters who publish the false news about Haftar’s office without checking the truth of the report.

It is worth mentioning that Haftar’s media office hadn’t denied the story only after three days since the news was published when the AFRICOM media office denied the report about the alleged visit.

From his side, the US ambassador, Peter Bodde said that he only met Haftar on 9th July in Amman, adding that that meeting was the last meeting for him with Haftar.

Bodde stated that the US is committed to cooperate with all Libyans to help in returning the stability and ending the disputes in Libya. He clarified that therefore the US insisted on communicating with a broad spectrum of the Libyan political and security personalities in Libya.

Bodde pointed that he also met with the head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, on 23rd May for the sake of coming to a logical solution through the Libyan Political Agreement.

It is worth mentioning that Haftar’s media office announced, a few days ago, that Waldhauser and Bodde had visited Haftar in his office in the city of Al-Marj, to talk about how to cooperate to fight the terrorism.

Observers said that Haftar was trying to take advantage of the false news, but AFRICOM’s reaction prevented him from carrying him using the fake news.
