Guterres appoints Salame as UN envoy to Libya

The United Nations General Secretary, Antonio Guterres, announced, on Friday, the appointment of the Lebanese politician, Ghassan Salame, as the new UN envoy to Libya after his predecessor German, Martin Kober.

Salame becomes the sixth UN envoy to Libya since 2011. The first one was Abdul-Lilah Al-Khateeb, the second was Ian Martin, the third was Tareq Mitri, the fourth was Bernardino Leon, and the fifth was Martin Kobler.
