Qatar and South Africa reaffirm support to Libyan unity

The State of Qatar and the Republic of South Africa reaffirmed their support to the Libyan government in fighting terrorism, stressing the need to preserve the Libyan unity, sovereignty, and integrity.

In their meeting between the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the President of South African Jacob Zuma, in Pretoria, on Tuesday, confirmed the need to maintain the Libyan unity, restore the security and stability, and support the government in its fight against the terrorism”. They also mentioned the significant contributions by the African Union.

They vowed to continue the joint efforts with the International Community about the security and stability in Libya, the region, and the world.

For Libya, both parties discussed the strategic issues related to the regional and the international security, as well as the political developments in the Middle East.The Emir of Qatar arrived, late on Tuesday, to Pretoria from Kenya, at the end of his African tour that started on Monday in Ethiopia. It is his first African visit since he took office on June 25th, 2013.
