Al-Swehly calls for bringing Haftar to investigations



The head of the State Council, Abdel Rahman Al-Swehly, addressed a note, dated on March 22nd, from the designated head of the State Council, Mohamed Emazeb, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the head and the members of the Security Council, the General Secretary of the Arab League, the General Secretary of the African Union, the General Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, the Amnesty International, the Human Rights Watch, the Arab Organization for Human Rights, and the United Nations Human Council, calling for punishing those who committed the heinous crimes that carried out by the Dignity Operation affiliates that led by General Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi, from grave digging, desecration and burning of bodies, outlawed executions, killings of women and kids, and other crimes level up to war crimes.

Al-Swehly said that “since Haftar was assigned as the leader of the Dignity Operation, violations against human rights are being carried out repeatedly, included attempted murder, throwing bodies in dumpsters, collective detention, torture, burning opponents’ houses, displacing thousands of families, and denying them the right of returning to their safe houses, it included the seizure of densely populated areas.”

He added that “the United Nations Special Mission to Libya remained silent in the face of such crimes.” Al-Swehly called the International Community to bore their responsibilities towards Libya, prevent foreign military interferences, and investigate the human rights violations.
