NCHRL denounces the crimes of Haftar’s forces

The National Commission for Human Rights – Libya (NCHRL) denounced, on Tuesday, the extrajudicial executions against three elements from Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council (BRSC) on the hands of the army officer, Mahmud Al-Werfalli, who is affiliated with the military of the Dignity Operation that led by General Khalifa Haftar.

Al-Werfalli, the commander of the special commandos’ axes in Benghazi, was appeared on a video killing the unarmed three BRSC captives while handcuffed.

The NCHRL condemned the abuses that ignored the international laws and Geneva Convention about the Treatment of Prisoners of War that Haftar’s forces had carried out. It added that these crimes happened under the silence of the official authorities of the Interim Government and the House of Representatives (HoR).

NCHRL stated that executing these captives is a crime like the crimes of Daesh. The NCHRL called the court of appeals in Benghazi and the Justice Committee in the HoR to urgently open full investigations on this crime and the previous ones and bring the doers to the justice.

The NCHRL renewed its calls to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open investigations and bring the criminals before the law.
