BDB: We are not a threat to neighbor countries

Benghazi Defense Brigades (BDB) said it wouldn’t let Libya be the hotbed of terrorists, fights, or threats to the neighbor or regional countries.

It vowed, in a statement entitled “the political vision of the Benghazi Defense Brigades” that its fighters won’t incite any regional or tribal war, will bias towards social and political solutions that guarantee justice and stability.

The BDB stressed it “will fight terrorism, all its ideological and military forms, won’t permit terrorism to prevail inside Benghazi or Libya.”

The BDB stated that all its fighters are Libyans, most of them from Barqa provision, and they are the same ones who participated in the revolution of 2011 against the dictatorship.

The statement denied any partial, political, or ideological affiliations, confirming that their stated objective is for Benghazi displaced citizens to return home. The announcement followed “attempts by some Libyan politicians to discredit BDB fighters.”

The BDB is an armed formation of fighters from Benghazi and Ajdabiya who fought against Gaddafi brigades in 2011, along with fighters from the west. They aim to liberate Benghazi in the east from Dignity Operation led by General Khalifa Haftar and the return of the displaced.

The BDB was formed early 2016, in the western region, supported by the revolutionary brigades and soldiers in the West. They controlled Ras-Lanuf and Al-Sedra terminals from Haftar forces.
