The Turkish embassy in Libya denied, on Sunday, the accusations made by some members of the House of Representatives (HoR) of supporting Benghazi Defense Brigades, who attacked the Oil Crescent Region, on Friday.
The embassy said, in a statement, that “Turkey only recognizes and supports the entities that formed within the Political Agreement,” expressing the regret “for that untrue accusation against Turkey.”
The embassy also confirmed that “the official Turkish institutions, headed by the nation parliament, is willing to cooperate with the HoR,” calling “the HoR members who signed the statement, which was issued on March 3rd, to take into consideration the official Turkish position and work together to develop bilateral relations.”
The Turkish statement added that “we are following with concern the clashes in the Oil Crescent Region and the earlier Tripoli clashes.” It demanded, “all involved parties to recognize the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA) and support its efforts to restore security.”
