Kobler meets with Al-Sarraj, Mitig and Al-Swehli



The Head of the UN Special Mission In Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, met with the head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj and the Libyan Foreign Minister, Mohamed Taher Siala, to discuss living conditions inside Libya.

Kobler said that they met at the headquarters of the Libyan Foreign Ministry, and reviewed many political issues. Via his Twitter account, Kobler said that “in the first meeting with Al-Sarraj in 2017. We discussed urgent need to take decisions to improving living conditions in Libya.”

In another Tweet, Kobler said that “2017 should be the year for crucial decisions to accomplish peace and bring back hope for Libyans.”

About the above, Kobler also met with the member of the PC, Ahmed Mitig, on Sunday, in Tripoli, and discussed stabilization mechanisms.

An official source in Tripoli said that Mitig and Kobler discussed the financial and economic arrangements, carried out during London and Tunisia meetings, and the mechanisms for the GNA in 2017″.

Kobler also met with the head of the State Council, Abdul-Rahman Al-Swehli, late on Sunday, and his deputy Saleh Makhzoom in Tripoli.

The meeting discussed the ways to support the political process and the Political Agreement (PA) as the only legitimate frame to solve the crisis the country is going through, and the mechanisms to resolve all challenges and obstacles in the face of its implementation, to end the economic suffering and accomplish peace and stability.

Al-Swehli stated that “the openness of State Council to all parties, willingness is to discuss all initiatives to modify the political agreement, remove all challenges, to achieve state interests, and to end the crisis.
