Al-Jemaly: NATO operations destroyed Libya

The Arab League special envoy to Libya, Salah Addin Al-Jemaly, said that Libyans had suffered suppression for more than forty years, adding that “for some, the national dialogue still means acquiring more gains.”

He clarified that “the dialogue culture and the acceptance of the other is still absent in most Arab nations.”

Al-Jemaly stated that “NATO intervention in Libya destroyed the country, security, and governmental institutions.” He added that “what happened in Libya resembled the Iraqi scenario, especially the disintegration of the army.”

Al-Jemaly hoped that the year 2017 would see a breakthrough in the Libyan crises, clarifying that Libya might see interventions in the coming year, given various interests of Western powers in Libya, with the oil and strategic locations of the Mediterranean.”
