Al-Ghosry announces the liberation of Sirte



The Spokesperson of the Operation “Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous” forces, Mohamed Al-Ghosry, announced the full liberation of the city of Sirte and eliminating all terrorist hotbeds of the terrorist group of Daesh.

Al- Ghosry said in a press release that “since the beginning of that military operations until the liberation of Sirte, Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous sacrificed 720 martyrs and three thousand injured.” He added that “our forces accomplished heroic acts, eradicating terrorist elements and their positions across the city, killing about 2500 Daesh elements”.

He pointed that combing the city for war remnants and land mines terrorists left might need some time and might take a month at least.

He added that “we follow the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA), waiting for the president orders for any further moves.”

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous forces were formed following a call from the head of the PC, Fayez Al-Sarraj, in April 2016, for all military commanders to gather for a common military chamber, launching “Sirte liberation operations.”
