Suspicious leak reveals American support to Haftar

A Libyan TV station talked about leaked audio recording of what appears to be American pilots speaking with the control tower of an airbase under the leadership of the General Khalifa Haftar.

The conversations between the pilots and the airbase were published on Tuesday; they included communications between Banina airbase in the eastern city of Benghazi and other regional airbases under the control of NATO.

The pilots’ conversation showed the participation of a variety of aircraft used for military transport, such as the CN-35. The aircraft are suspected of helping Haftar in his battles against the rebels in the eastern side of Libya.

At least 14 flights have taken place between the Banina airbase and other airbases used by NATO forces between June and August, as indicated by the recordings.

The NATO airbases, included in the record, are on the Italian islands of Sicily and Pantelleria and an air base in Crete.

The Libyan An-Naba TV channel, which obtained the records, claimed that the pilots spoke with “American accents.” The leaks come from the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) learned that France had its special forces deployed in Libya to support Haftar’s forces.
