LIBYAPROSPECT – Tripoli
The United Nations envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, met in Tripoli, on Friday, the head of the Presidential Council (PC) Guards, General Najmi Al-Nakoua, to discuss the developments of the security situation.
Kobler described the meeting as friendly, adding that they “discussed updates on Presidential Guard creation, security of Libyans & protection of civilians and the UN priority.”
It is worth mentioning that Al-Nakoua was appointed, by the PC last month, as the commander of the PC Guards. The PC also appointed Colonel Mohamed Abu-Bakr and Colonel Abdulla Belal as assistants for Al-Nakoua.
The head of the PC of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, issued, in May, the decision to establish the PC Guards Device.
The role of the PC Guards is to secure and protect the administrative and sovereign headquarters of the public institutions, including the ground, sea, and air crossings of Libya.
