Migrant rescue operations off Libyan coast



About 33 found dead, on Tuesday, after trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Libya to reach Europe.

According to Associated Press Agency (AP), the Spanish non-governmental organization, Proactiva Open Arms, found Twenty-nine of them in a single rubber boat after dying of asphyxia.

Proactiva Open Arms said that they rescued more than 1800 migrants, on Tuesday, with the assistance of the Italian navy.

In the same context, the municipality of Zuwara published, on its Facebook page, photos of illegal migrants after rescuing them.

The coastguards in Zuwara rescued 138 immigrants from African countries, three of them are Libyans.

The commander of the coast guard, the Marine Colonel Asem Tuwar, said that they received the report from one of the fishing vessels, then they rescued the immigrants to be taken to migrant shelters in the city of Al-Zawya.
