Al-Sisi calls for lifting arms embargo on Libya

The Egyptian President, Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi, said that Libya is currently suffering from a deep crisis. He added that the Political Agreement (PA), which was signed in Skhirat last year, is unsurpassed and Egypt “is making a significant effort to help Libya to end the crisis.”

He added, in his speech in front of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, that Egypt keeps helping Libya in forming a unified government, which must be endorsed by the House of Representatives (HoR).

Al-Sisi called for lifting the arms embargo on Libya to strengthen the army to be able to fight the terrorism in Libya.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Sisi supports one of the factions in Libya. He always said that he support General Khalifa Haftar, while Haftar is considered, by many Libyans, that he leads one of the factions.

According to observers, Al-Sisi talked, at UN General Assembly, about unifying Libya, after the Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, called Egypt to use its power to strengthen the dialogue between the Libyan factions in the eastern Libyan Side and the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli, under the leadership of the head of the PC, Fayez Al-Sarraj.
