LIBYAPROSPCT – Misrata
The United Nations Envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, in his visit to the city of Misrata, spoke with the Municipality Council and some members of the House of Representatives (HoR) about the recent situation in Libya.
From his side, the mayor of Misrata, Mohamed Eshteawi, said that the representatives of Misrata asked Kobler to urge the HoR to convene to implement the Political Agreement (PA).
Eshteawi added that the HoR has to amend the Constitutional Declaration and then to endorse the Government of National Accord (GNA) to end the Libyan people suffer.
Eshteawi clarified that Kobler had confirmed the support of the International Community to the city of Misrata and its sacrifices in the war against the Islamic State (IS) in Sirte through the Operation “Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous.”
In the same context, Kobler said that he is so happy for the commitment of Misrata to the Libyan Political agreement. He praised the courage of Misrata in fighting against IS in Sirte.
Regarding the Central Hospital of Misrata, Kobler stressed that the medical financing must be the priority.
From another side, Kobler said that he is ready to meet General Khalifa Haftar to talk about forming a unified Libyan Army to fight the terrorism and to protect the oil ports.
Kobler said, in a press release, that the military operation on the crescent oil ports last Sunday concerned him, confirming that the Libyan oil belongs to all of the Libyan people.
He stressed that Political Agreement (PA), which rules Libya, enables the Presidential Council (PC) in Tripoli to lead the Libyan army troops. He also confirmed that he is planning to meet with the authorities on the eastern side of Libya to guarantee the Political Agreement (PA).
