Italian Navy rescues 500 migrants near Libya



The Italian Navy announced that it rescued around 500 migrants on boats nearby the Libyan coast, on Monday.

The Italian Navy recovered six bodies from an inflatable boat, while two helicopters and crews on two lifeboats was looking for survivors and human bodies.

In the same context, a spokesperson for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said, last week, the number of the dead migrants on the way from North Africa to Italy raised to one dead in every 42 migrants; it was one in every 52 last year.

It is worth mentioning that the two helicopters flown from the Italian aircraft carrier, Garibaldi, which works for human anti-smuggling in the Mediterranean Sea.
