US is ready to wage new strikes against IS in Libya

The spokesman of the American Defense Ministry, Peter Cook, said that he doesn’t rule out that his country may launch new air strikes on the locations of the Islamic State group (IS) in Libya.

He explained that Washington was willing to do so in the past, and continues to think about it seriously, but in the future, not now, because of the political situation in Libya is still unstable, especially since the Government of National Accord (GNA) hasn’t fully gained control of the country, Middle East Monitor reported.

Cook stressed that his country had been closely monitoring the situations in Libya, and having talks and discussions with the Libyan officials to find the best ways for US to help in Libya’s fight against the IS.

He demanded Western governments to provide their support for the GNA so that it can regain control of the country and restore security.
