LIBAPROSPECT – Misrata
The forces of the Operation “Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous” fighting the Islamic State (IS) in its stronghold of Sirte said, on Friday, that four of them and ten militants were killed in heavy clashes around Sirte sea-port, where militants tried to escape under siege.
The troops of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous near Misrata fought for retaking Sirte last month. They regained grounds west of Sirte, and then they advanced slower because the IS is still controlling central Sirte and fighting.
The Islamic State elements are still fighting hard to defend the territory where they still control in the residential areas in central Sirte.
One of the spokesmen of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous operation room, Reda Essa, said that Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous intercepted a group of the IS, on Friday, trying to escape through the coastal side of Sirte.”
“The clashes resulted in four killed and 24 wounded. After the clashes had ended, our forces found ten bodies of militants,” he added.
