Algerian PM and Rodriguez discuss Libya



The Algerian First Minister, Abdel-Malek Selal, and Africom commander, General David Rodriguez, discussed efforts to cut terrorist supplying lines inside Libya and Mali.

According to a statement from the Algerian government, both parties discussed “latest developments in North Africa, especially Libya, and efforts to restore peace and stability.” They also exchanged views on different issues concerning security in Africa.

Rodriguez is visiting Algeria within the third session of the second American –Algerian strategic dialogue.

From another side, Algerian Minister for Magharebia and African Union affairs, Abdel-Qader Mesahel, met the US Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Justin Siberell, and discussed fighting terrorism in Sahel and Maghreb area, especially fighting the Islamic State (IS) inside Libya.

The United States embassy in Algeria said in a statement, Monday, that a delegate chaired by Siberell discussed with Algerian official security issues, adding that “the United States considers Algeria as a respectful partner in fighting terrorism.”
