150 air raids against IS since Bo-Grain attack

The Air Emergency Operations Room spokesperson, Mukhtar Fakron, of the Operation “Al-Bonyan Al-Marsous”, said that Libyan air forces launched 150 raids against the Islamic State (IS) positions in Sirte since the first attack in Bo-Grain area.

He declared that air forces targeted the IS positions in both front and back axis, besides moving targets inside and around Sirte, arms and ammunition warehouse and car bombs.

The IS targeted military checkpoint called Baghla junction, linking Bo-Grain gate, east of Misrata and Jufra, last May, with the suicidal attack that killed two and injured others.

Other fierce confrontations followed the attack around Bo-Grain between Misrata brigades and the IS fighters, ended up with the IS full control over the area.

Following such events, the Presidential Council (PC) formed the Operation “Al-Bonyan Al-Marsous” to lead military operations against the Islamic State (IS) in the area between Misrata and Sirte.

Since then, Al-Bonyan Al-Marsous made significant advances against the IS and forced the group to retreat from different districts inside Sirte.
