Renzi: My country is depending on the GNA to restore peace, fight terrorism and halt migrant waves - Internet

The Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, said that his country is not only depending on the Government of National Accord (GNA) to restore peace in Libya but to fight terrorism and halt migrant waves to avoid tragedies in the Mediterranean.

He added that “it is not a coincidence that while I am in Tehran, the foreign secretary, Paolo Gentiloni, is the first foreign politician to meet the Presidential Council (PC) that headed by Fayez Al-Sarraj, in Tripoli, to provide the political support to the Libyan institutions”, according to Italian Aki news.

The Head of the State Council, Abdel-Rahman Al-Swehly, spoke of cooperation between Libya and European security entities, adding that such cooperation will continue through the legitimate Libyan authorities if it asked.

“We, Libyans, can fight the Islamic State (IS), without foreign military intervention,” said Al-Swehly.
