The United States President Special envoy to Libya, Jonathan Winer, said that 28 states imposed sanctions against the chairman of the General National Congress (GNC), Nuri Abusahmain, for violating the Security Council resolution.

Winer added, on Twitter that the “GNC Nuri Abusahmain sanctioned by 28 states for violating UNSC2259 resolution, any payments for the GNC create risk for all involved”.

The European Union, previously, enlisted the GNC chairman, the head of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, and the head of the Salvation Government in Tripoli, Khalifa Al-Ghwail, for blocking the United Nations efforts to solve the Libyan crisis and form the Government of National Accord (GNA).
