The House of Representatives (HoR) chairman, Ageela Saleh, said, in a televised speech, on Saturday, that he won’t acquiesce to any threats, or frightened by any threats or sanctions, in reference to the European Union sanctions, started Friday against him, Nuri Abusahmain, the head of the General National Congress (GNC) and Khalifa Al-Ghwail, the head of the Rescue Government Tripoli.
Saleh confirmed that he is not opposing the Government of National Accord (GNA), but “it should be endorsed by the HoR firstly”. He called the Secretary General of the United Nations and the European countries to “respect Libyan’s sovereignty”. He urged all members of the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA) to appear in front of the HoR in Tobruk to consider modifying the constitutional declaration, and the head of the PC, Fayez Al-Sarraj, to present the CV of each minister.
“The GNA shouldn’t work under protection from the militias in Tripoli, but under the protection of the national army”, Saleh said, commending the role of the army in combating terrorism.
Saleh exalted inhabitants of Benghazi, the army, security bodies, youths, and the families of the martyrs. He criticized the United Nations envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, for his recent comments about the GNA.
