Militants of the Islamic State group (IS) attacked Abu Grain checkpoint, south of Misrata, on Wednesday, the attack resulted in killing 3 security personnel, a military source told Reuters.
The military source said that the militants withdrew after the attack and the situation was under control.
Reports suggest that the attack was retaliatory move to an air strike in Sirte that killed three children and wounded their mother.
There was no immediate confirmation from officials in Misrata about the responsible actors for the air strike in Sirte. The strikes hit 3 locations, including near a water plant, where the children were killed, and close to a hotel complex in the city center, a resident said.
Abu Grain is on the road between Misrata and Sirte, where militants loyal to the IS have gained control.
