The spokesman for the US State Department, John Kirby, said in a statement, on Wednesday, that his country welcomes the statement by 100 members of the House of Representatives (HoR) to support the formation of the Government of National Accord (GNA).
America denounced all attempts to disrupt the Libyan political process, expressing deep concern about information that suggest the use of intimidation and threat by extremist minority, to prevent a vote on the government at the HoR session last Tuesday.
The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, warned that Libya will become a failed state, if conflicting parties don’t comply. He also reminded of his country’s efforts along the past months in order to form the GNA in Tripoli.
100 HoR members signed a document, last Tuesday, to grant confidence to the GNA proposed by the Presidential Council (PC), headed by Fayez Al-Sarraj, after voting was hindered inside the HoR by some members.
The signatories of the statement suggested holding a session in Al-Jufra area, Brega or Ghadames, to vote on the government.
