Six fighters were killed in Derna, trying to thwart the Islamic State (IS) attack against the city, where the group was drawn out months ago.
Leader at Derna Revolutionaries Shura Council said that the six fighters were killed in fierce fighting lasted for seven hours, on Monday. One leader at the IS called, Muftah Abu Faraj, nicknamed Abu Baseer Libi, was killed, three tanks and one armed vehicle were destroyed. The IS was trying to enter Derna from Al-Fatayeh area, east south of the city.
The IS is trying for weeks to re-capture Derna after it was driven out of the city last July.
The group of the IS controls the city of Sirte, launch attacks against surrounding areas and in Benghazi, while controlling out strikes of Derna.
