The dismissed second deputy chief of the General National Congress (GNC), Saleh Al-Makhzoum, said that the congress is now run by militia that follows the orders of its chief, Nuri Abusahmain.
In a comment on his dismissal decision, he said that this militia is after the GNC members, adding that members are being threatened.
“The GNC doesn’t exist and there is no voting; there is lying and falsification; there are no hearings and the situation in Libya is that who owns the money and is followed by a group of people can govern”, Al-Makhzoum said on a TV channel.
67 out 124 GNC members voted on Thursday on dismissing the 10 members, who signed the political agreement in Skhirat, including Al-Makhzoum.
Abusahmain refused to provide candidates for the unity government, and then he changed the team of the dialogue, because its chief was Al-Makhzoum; according to Al-Makhzoum.
“When Abusahmain did all of that, the members of the GNC voted for a team to represent them in the dialogue” Al-Makhzoum said.
Al-Makhzoum added “the team included Al-Makhzoum, Mohamed Amari, and Abdul-Rahman Al-Swehli. They wanted us to become members of the GNA, and they nominated other members to sign on the political agreement”.
