Vice President of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, Ali Al-Qatrany vacated his responsibility of choosing the security committee, saying “we didn’t participate in choosing members of the committee, we were not satisfied about those who were chosen”.
He added in a letter to the United Nations envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, Tuesday “we officially objected and asked members to reform the committee”. He continued “despite that, the head of the President of the Presidential (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj didn’t pay any attention, ignorance continued and Al-Sarraj announced that the committee started its tasks”.
Al-Qatrany renewed his support for the outcomes of the political dialogue brokered by the United Nations and his commitment to implement it, the same as it was signed in Shkirat.
“Till now, the PC haven’t contacted the House of Representatives (HoR) to constitutionalize the political agreement by including it to the constitutional declaration, as stipulated in the agreement document” Al-Qatrany said.
He stressed that it is important step to insure the legality of sessions and decisions of the Presidential Council, and to control and organize relations between state institutions ratified by the PC.
Al-Qatrany asked the United Nations representative to call parties to the political agreement, to discuss what he described as “dangerous legal breach, that if overlooked will be repeated and might threaten the whole accord”.
