The head of the European delegation to Libya, Natalia Apostolova, welcomed the Presidential Council’s decision to form the Interim Security Committee (ISC) on Saturday, and asserted the importance of holding who obstruct the political agreement accountable.
“Those who obstruct the implementation of the Libyan Political Dialogue or violate UNSCR 2259 will be held accountable”, a statement on Facebook read.
The statement said that the decision is a positive development and another important step in the implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement and of UNSCR 2259.
“The Interim Security Committee must now work expeditiously and all concerned parties must allow the Committee to perform its tasks unhindered” it added.
The statement showed the EU’s readiness to provide assistance to the Government of National Accord (GNA) upon its request and in support of its priorities.
