A member of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed Al-Ammari, has denied any connection of the PC to a statement that ties the Islamic State group (IS) or other extremist groups to Benghazi rebels.
Al-Ammari said on a TV channel that the statement, issued on Sunday, wasn’t checked by the PC for approval. He considered the statement as mixing cards, adding that Benghazi rebels are of February revolution and known by all Libyans.
A statement was published on the PC’s Facebook page denounced the IS attacks in Benghazi considering them “a part of a plan to defeat the Libyans to accept the dark rule by damaging their infrastructure, killing youth and intimidation”.
Al-Ammari asserted that the Presidential Council is on equal distance off all Libyans. He added that the PC is working on a mechanism for media appearance and forming an official media bureau.
