The Tunisian Foreign Minister, Al-Tayeb Al-Backoush, said that a new consul was appointed in Libya, who will be officially seated after the Government of National Accord (GNA) is inaugurated in Libya.

Tunisia closed its embassy in Libya along with other countries due to the security issues.

Embassy staff members were abducted in Libya and 2 journalists are still missing. Tunisia took the decision of closing the boarders with Libya several times due to fears of terrorists and to stop Tunisian youth from joining extremist training camps in Libya.
