The Presidential Council discusses IS advances


The chief of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, held a meeting to inspect the situation in oil crescent area and consequences of advances made by after Islamic State group (IS) in Essedra. A statement LIBYAPROSPECT received stated.

Al-Sarraj’s media advisor said in a phone call that the stance of the Government of National Accord (GNA) is to fight terrorist groups, especially the IS, “things are too major to be dealt with only by media statements”, he added.

“This war needs first the formation of the GNA so that the arms embargo can be lifted”. He asserted that Libya now needs work rather than speeches.

The IS has seized several oil fields and is targeting biggest refinery in region. Measures are underway to fight the group in the middle area between Sirte and Ajdabiyah.
