A member of the General National Congress (GNC) uncovered that members who signed the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) in Skhirat have received threats and accusations of high treason by the GNC in Tripoli, Alwasat website eported.
Abulqasem Gzeat refused to elaborate on who launched these threats or who received them amongst the GNC members. He added that he wasn’t personally threatened but asserted “we betrayed no one; we call on them to embrace 3 principles; no for accusation of betrayal and disbelief, no for incitement to violence”.
“I didn’t expect the threats base to the signers to grow, given they are coming from the weakest link”, he told Alwasat Radio.
Gzeat believed that the low number of the GNC members who accepted the invitation to sit with the United Nations envoy, Martin Kobler, indicates the low support to the GNC chef, Nuri Abusahmain, amongst the house. 25 members out of 135 attended the meeting in Tripoli.
He added that the House of Representative (HoR) will be inaugurated in Tripoli regardless of threats or refusal of Abusahmain.
The Libyan political agreement was signed in Skhirat on December 17th. Members of the GNC signed, it later announced that it authorized no one to sign and those who did only represent themselves.
Kobler is trying to gather as many political forces as possible to join the agreement and met lately with Nuri Abusahmain and the chief of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, who announced accepting the deal.
