Fierce clashes erupted, Monday, between Oil installations guards and the Islamic State (IS) fighters in Ras Lanouf complex for oil and gas, which led to 11 deaths and 6 injured.
The IS fighters targeted Al-Sedra gate and oil tanks using two “Kanter” cars driven by suicide bombers, one car exploded at the gate killing three guards, the other car exploded before reaching oil tanks in the port.
Military officers confirmed the death of six fighters from the IS in Ras Lanouf clashes between Al-Sakania area and the oil complex, clashes continue. Air forces interfered to support the oil guards.
Eye-witnesses confirmed seeing a third convoy, of 40 armed cars, leaving Sirte through the coastal road in Abu-Zahia area heading east, fighters were shouting “remaining and expanding”.
