Kobler to visit Tobruk and Tripoli

Kobler to meet Ageela Saleh and Nuri Abusahmain - Internet

The United Nations special envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, is visiting Tobruk, Thursday, to meet with the President of the House of Representatives (HoR) Ageela Saleh, and Tripoli, on Friday, to meet with the President of the General National Congress (GNC) Nuri Abusahmain.

The member of the political committee in the GNC, Abdel Razeq Borwag, said that Abusahmain will ask for clarifications about the future of the retired General, Khalifa Haftar, in the wake of the political agreement signed in Skhirat.

He added that the GNC will also demand the inclusion of an amendment to the political draft concerning the legislative balance between the State Council and the House of Representatives (HoR), and not to limit the role of the State Council to provide advice, to get out of the current crisis.

From another side, media consultant for the President of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathy Bin Essa, denied any communications between Fayez Al-Sarraj and Abusahmain. He added “no communications till now between Al-Sarraj and Abusahmain, but it doesn’t mean that the Presidency of the unity government is closed in front of any Libyan seeking the national interests of the country”.

The President of HoR, Ageela Saleh, confirmed his rejection to sign the Skhirat agreement, saying that the decision should be taken in plenary session for the HoR in Tobruk.

Saleh put some conditions to approve the political agreement, during a meeting with Barqa tribes, to be prerogative to ratify and adopt the new government, be able to withdraw the confidence from the government and guarantees and insures keeping the military institution and its leaders.

The conditions included, according to Saleh, the rejection to work under foreign tutelage, and that the entry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) into Tripoli protected and secured by the army and Libyan security forces.
