The Tunisian Foreign Ministry denied, Friday, media reports about the abduction of 50 Tunisian sailors.
According to foreign ministry statement, intercepting the Tunisia sailors before Libyan coastguards is part of known procedures for monitoring and verification of the identities of the sailors.
The statement confirmed that all sailors are in good health, and that the ministry is following the case in coordination with the defense ministry and the involved Libyan authorities.
Media reports pointed that 50 Tunisian sailors from Sfax abroad four fishing boats were arrested by Libyan armed forces in the common territorial waters, and moved to Zuwara.
The Libyan authorities canceled, two days ago, taxes for Tunisian merchants, that worth 2000 Libyan Dinars (nearly $1437 dollar), a decision that relived many Tunisians especially in the south who enter Libya on daily basis.
