Al-Makhzoum considers Malta meeting either to keep Haftar or discuss details that might last longer - Internet

The member of the General National Congress (GNC), Saleh Al-Makhzoum, said that one reason for his rejection for the meeting between the GNC president, Nuri Abusahmain, and the president of the House of Representatives (HOR), Ageela Saleh, in Malta is that “Saleh tried to make the retired General, Khalifa Hafter, inviolate and put him as the supreme Commander of the Army”.

He added, on his Facebook page, that Saleh’s endeavor is dangerous, adding “he brings us back to the starting point in the dialogue that lasted for more than 14 months, we made great efforts to convince envoy of the HoR that there is no such thing inviolate in the dialogue process, we reached a solution that separates away controversial and coup military characters represented in the wording of article 8 of the political agreement”.

Al-Makhzoum considered Malta meeting “either to keep Haftar the way he is now, or discuss details that might last for more than a year, then we won’t find Libya or Libyan people to talk on behalf”.

He pointed that article 8 in the political accord states that the Presidential Council is the entity that competent with the functions of Supreme Commander of the Libyan army.
