Notables of Ajdabiya city announced cease-fire and withdrawal of fighters outside the city in addition to opening the security gates civilians have installed.
A statement on Sunday explained that grievances are to be dealt with through the relevant security department or sheikhs and notables of the city.
Notables called on all sides to stop assassinations and kidnappings between the rival sides. Negotiators from both sides will hold the legal and social responsibility for any breaches of the agreement.
The Mayor of Ajdabiya, Salem Jadhran accused Operation Dignity affiliates of breaching the cease-fire. While a leader in Ajdabiya Revolutionaries Shura Council confirmed that the soldiers of Operation Dignity, led by the retired General Khalifa Haftar, target the council’s forces in Tripoli street, 7th October neighborhood and streets of Alkobri and Alqloz, while the council’s forces are still committed to the cease-fire.
Violent clashes erupted in Ajdabiya on Wednesday, civilians were randomly hit by armors during the violent actions that the United Nations special envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, condemned.
The statement asserted that all social components of the city are aligned with the legitimacy of the state and support the police and army. It also called on all citizens to cooperate with security to decrease the weaponry in the city.
More than 30 were killed and tens wounded in the clashes between Haftar affiliates and Ajdabiya Revolutionaries Shura Council after calls for armed demonstrations against “terrorist groups”.
