International reactions have been pouring in the wake of signing the long-awaited political agreement between Libyan factions in Skhirat on Thursday under the United Nations sponsorship.
China expressed hope that all Libyan parties remain committed to resolving disputes through dialogues, so that a full-scale reconciliation can be achieved and national stability restored at an early date, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Friday.
Hong Lei asserted China’s willingness to work with relevant parties and make further contributions to peace and stability of Libya and the whole region. “China stands for and takes an active part in the Libyan political dialogue, and supports the mediation efforts of the international community, especially the UN.” He added.
On Thursday, the UN-brokered political agreement was signed in Skhirat between Libyan rivals, which will enable the formation of a sole Government of National Accord and organize a transitional process inside Libya.
Saudi Arabia has also hailed the agreement. A foreign ministry representative has expressed Saudi hopes for security and stability restoration in Libya within regional unity.
