The European Union officially announced, Thursday night, that it will not have any contacts or relations with any Libyan party not recognized by the Government of National Accord (GNA) emanating from the signed political agreement.
The EU vowed to provide support for the unity government. The high representative of the European Union’s foreign policy, Federica Mogherini, described in a statement the agreement as an historical step on the path for restoring peace and stability for the Libyan people.
The EU said that the agreement between members of the Hose of Representatives (HoR) and the General National Congress (GNC), the independent members, the municipalities, the political parties and the civil society paves the way for peaceful solution to the crisis in Libya that caused division and the suffering of Libyans.
The EU renewed its commitment to provide aid it ratified earlier, which worth 100 million EUROs.
