The chief of the General National Congress (GNC) talks’ team, Saleh Almakhzoum, noted in the ceremony of signing the political agreement in Skhirat on Thursday, that the agreement is a step further towards building the state and people’s prosperity.
Almakhzoum noted that the agreement isn’t perfect but is important to keep Libya from falling and save its unity. He noted that the Islamic Stats group’s control over Sirte shouldn’t be accepted.
He called on the UN to continue its support for Libya to aid it build its modern institutions. He also noted that the February 17th revolution is of the most remarkable chapters of the Libyan history that Libyans created with their will and the help of international community.
The UN-brokered political agreement was signed in Skhirat and is hoped to be a step towards restoring security and stability in Libya. The Government of National Accord (GNA) is planned to be formed within 40 days to tackle a pile of challenges ahead of it.
