The United Nations envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, arrived, Wednesday, to Al-Baida, east of Libya, to meet with the retired General Khalifa Haftar, the commander of forces affiliated to the House of Representatives (HoR).

The member of defense and national security committee in the HoR, Tarek Al-Joroushi said “we received the UN envoy and the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Martin Kobler, in Al-Abraq airport”.

He mentioned that “Kobler’s visit aims to hold meeting with Haftar”, without mentioning the location or time of the meeting.

It is the second visit for Kobler to Libya. Last month he visited Tobruk, where he met the members of the House of Representatives (HoR), then he went to the capital, Tripoli, to meet the members of the General National Congress (GNC), to discuss the developments of the political process brokered by the UN.

Libyan parties were supposed to sign, Wednesday, the political agreement and form the Government of National Accord (GNA) that include all parties to the conflict, but informed sources said that the signing to be delayed to Thursday.
